FAQs

The Keg Code Of Conduct

The Keg Code of Conduct exists to uphold a standard of decorum that aligns with The Keg’s values, ensuring the comfort and safety of all guests, while fostering an inclusive environment. It outlines actions, behaviors, and beliefs that will not be tolerated at any time. It is intended to be followed by anyone who visits The Keg. While formalized in type, it is ultimately intended to be followed in spirit. Not every situation is black and white, and at times, best judgment will need to be used.

Many of us think of The Keg as a great place to visit. For over 50 years, this feeling and culture of mutual respect has blossomed from an unspoken bond amongst Keggers to now being shared with anyone who comes through our doors and interacts with our staff – Keggers. There are, however, times where our culture of mutual respect and the safety of those within The Keg are put at risk by the behaviours of a select few. The Keg Code of Conduct will serve multiple purposes - quantify this culture of well being and safety that The Keg has cultivated, and identify actions that can put this at risk.

Expectations of Guests

As the same expectations are set for our Keg staff, we expect that our guests will follow and uphold the spirit of this decorum. The Keg is aligned that a safe and respectful space for staff is one in which guests also feel the most comfortable in.

Threatening and Discriminatory Behaviour

  • Policy Implementation: Ensuring that the Code of Conduct is communicated to all of our guests via the Keg website.
  • Incident Management: Taking prompt and appropriate action in response to any breaches of the code. This involves investigating reports of misconduct, mediating disputes, and making decisions on the necessary course of action.
  • Staff Support and Training: Providing ongoing support and training to all employees on how to maintain the standards of conduct and how to respond to and report any incidents or concerns.
  • Creating a Safe Environment: Implementing measures to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all guests and staff, including regular reviews of safety protocols and staff/guest feedback.

Duty of Guests

We encourage our guests to come in as you are, knowing you will have a great experience. You will be further comforted by the fact that you are in a safe space allowing you to enjoy yourself. At times, you may need to be prepared to call in or call out any behavior of any members of your party should you notice it. Often, this is the most effective way to ensure safe and enjoyable spaces. Should you have any concerns about Keg staff, please ensure to speak with a Manager.

Duty of Service Animals

ALL WORKING SERVICE ANIMALS ARE WELCOME TO ACCOMPANY THEIR OWNERS IN THE KEG.

Our commitment to Service Animals, and their owners, is to provide them with an environment in which they can perform their important duties. In turn, it is expected that Service Animals behave in the following manner:

  • Are quiet, fully trained, and well behaved. Examples of expected behaviour include:
    • Not sitting on, jumping up on, or otherwise on seats, chairs, benches, tables, or other surfaces, especially where food is served
    • Are able to withstand a busy and loud environment, where guests may be distracted or wanting to interact with the Service Animal
    • Do not eat while on duty in The Keg
  • Do not impede Keg Staff from providing their owners, or other guests, great Keg service
  • Are properly restrained by their owner as per their training and Service Animal standards
  • Do not relieve themselves on premises

Should a Service Animal behave in a manner not in line with their training, it may be asked to leave the premises.

Steps to Ensure Code of Conduct is Followed

The Keg has systems and procedures in place to ensure that the decorum is followed in a manner that is equitable to everyone. All levels of staff, including Managers, have been trained on the decorum and understand the steps to take should threatening behaviours present themselves within The Keg.

Final Thoughts

The Keg is a great place to visit, unwind, and enjoy oneself. This Code of Conduct is meant to embody in words what The Keg espouses to be – a safe space for everyone within it. Our hope, and goal, is that this Code of Conduct never has to formally be used, but rather its words echo the beliefs we hold day in and day out.
